orion
It was in 2010 but I'me not sure if you have heard about it: azimut270 . Have a look on their logbook (some legs of more than 2000 NM). Enjoy
FlyingMonkey
Those are the two Swiss ATP pilots that flew with special ferry tanks at a weight of 1675lb. Cool adventure!
WmInce
2000 nm at a togw 1675#. For a light sport airplane, that's impressive. Makes me feel pretty good about the CT.
FlyingMonkey
Okay Bill, when do we plan our round the world adventure?
WmInce
Okay Bill, when do we plan our round the world adventure? It doesn't make me feel THAT good.
FlyingMonkey
It doesn't make me feel THAT good. Hehe...I think those Pacific and North Atlantic legs would creep me out. Sharks and hypothermia are two flight hazards I try to avoid. How about the Bahamas? 10% of the adventure with 5% of the risks, plus beaches! sandpiper
If you went around the world maybe you could find Amelia's beach? Might not want to land there though.
Tom Baker
Sharks and hypothermia are two flight hazards I try to avoid. I don't think of them as flight hazards, but rather crash hazards.
FlyingMonkey
Other than getting your name in some record book, I don't see the point. Hours and hours of straight and level over open water doesn't seem like much fun to me. I would rather do something like land in every one of the 50 continental USA states, for example. That is what I'm currently working on. At least the lower 48.
FlyingMonkey
How about doing it all at once in shortest time possible? I'll go with you. You have to wait until I'm retired for that!
