Andy A
Does anybody know anyone in the Carolinas that you would recommend to do an upcoming annual and rubber replacement on our CTLSi? I haven't found any body relatively close that is familiar with the rubber replacement on the 912is engine. There used to be an A&P near Wilmington, NC, but I was told last year he was no longer in the area.
John Vance
SeaHawk Aviation in Wilmington NC does work on Rotax engines and Light Sport aircraft, including the CT. I haven’t used them for the annual yet, but they did my transponder check last December and they seemed to be a good operation.
Madhatter
I know of no one in SC. There is one so called expert individual who did an annual for a friend of mine however he did not torque the propeller bolts when installing the prop. My friend landed with all bolts sheared except for one. There were other issues also.
Andy A
I spoke with Seahawk Aviation and they sounded like they were competent to work on LSA and Rotax engines. I'll be taking the plane over there in the next few weeks for an annual inspection, rubber replacement, transponder check and possibly a prop balance...sounds like an expensive trip. Next year the parachute repack if due. I'm ready to get some of these expensive items taken care of so I can enjoy the low cost of owning an LSA! John Vance
Please let us know how it goes! I’ve been doing the annuals in August in Michigan for the last four years, but might consider biting the bullet and doing one a few months early so I can do it in Wilmington. It would be short term pain for me, but logistically easier in the long run, since I live 3 miles from KILM most of the year.
